Choosing Your First Acoustic Piano Part 1

In this article we would like to talk about one of the most important aspects or learning to play piano.

And that is what you need to know before you go out and actually buy one.

So with this in mind, we will give you some tips and advice on how to choose your very first acoustic piano.

The first consideration to take in mind is whether you want a new or a used piano. Because the piano is such a durable instrument compared to most others, it can be a good decision to buy a used piano.

The life span of a well looked after piano is often 30 to 40 years, or even more.

If you are buying a used piano it will be wise to bring someone along with you who knows how to choose a good used piano.

The next consideration you must make when buying your first piano is the size. You need to work out how much room you can afford to set aside for a piano. A grand piano can range from 5 to 9 feet in size.

Or alternatively, you could opt for a vertical piano. Vertical pianos range from 35 to 52 inches in size. You will have to measure the area you have, and buy a piano that fits in with these requirements.

The next thing to consider (and probably one of the most important) is your budget. Pianos can be very expensive (but on the up side, they are also very durable) compared to most other musical instruments.

It’s important to take your time when shopping for a piano, especially if it’s your first acoustic one. For most people, buying a piano represents a large investment – so it’s important you get something that you love to play.
